The Emu Ink Schools' Publishing Programme is an online learning facility, aimed at developing some of the country's youngest authors. As the publisher of Ireland's youngest independent author already (Joe Prendergast's trilogy was published when he was just nine years old - The Great Fragola Brothers, The Twisted and Dead End), Emu Ink is the best-placed publisher to mould more aspiring young authors.

The programme itself is a series of step-by-step lessons, which classes of any number can partake in at a time that suits them, during their chosen term. The lessons include focus on idea generation, character development, plots, dialogue, description and editing etc.

Exercise sheets accompany the lessons and on completion of the programme students will have experienced the reality of the process involved in becoming a real author.

Additionally, students can then use their art classes to draw a symbol that represents their story and the school can submit the top 30 for use on the book cover.

After final story files and artwork are submitted, the students' work will be published in an anthology - making them published authors!
